Are you ready to achieve your goals before the end of December?
When you really know how to focus you will be able to enter next year on an entirely new level. More well-being, ease, joy, and success (whatever that is to you!).
Therefore, with 4 months left of this year, I felt inspired to share a post about this powerful goal-setting process that I’ve been using now since 2019:
The 5-4-3-2-1 goal-setting process
If you’ve been following me for some time, you probably know how I keep talking about how important it is to allow yourself to dream really big when you set your important goals. Why? Because a big goal triggers a certain amount of fear in your brain and this will help you focus and boost your creativity. A bigger goal will have the power to excite you and once you’re able to connect your goal to your feelings, it will stay with you and keep you motivated to do what you have to in order to achieve your goal.
But, a really big goal, a dream, can also trigger so much fear and uncertainty that you’re not able to move. You will start to procrastinate and your brain will deliver all kinds of excuses that will prevent you from moving towards your goal. And this is where the beauty of the 5-4-3-2-1 process comes in:
- Define your dream – your big goal – be specific and get emotional. Where do you want to be in 5 years?
- Where will you be in 4 months from now? What actions will you have taken in 4 months?
- Now we’re getting really actionable – make a plan for the upcoming 3 weeks (aiming for your long-term big goal)! What items will you be able to tick off already in 3 weeks?
- Looking at that 3-week action list – what will you have done within 2 days?
- And last but not least (this is where the magic kicks in!) – what action will you take 1 hour from now?
You see, when you break it down into smaller chunks, it will be more digestible. Once you start you will gain momentum + your confidence and motivation will grow!
Do you already have that big goal in place? Let’s focus on where you want to be in 4 months!
What action will you take today?
