AnnaThere’s more to mindfulness than you think – as you tap into the magic of the Now, your life will inevitably start to change. This is how:

In fact I prefer using the term mindful awareness instead of mindfulness, not to confuse it with MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) and other teachings which were used to introduce secularized versions of the ancient Eastern spiritual practices to the West.

As you become mindfully aware and really present in the Now, something magical happens:

Your past and your future disappear, the two very things that give rise to most of the anxiety and stress in your life.

Anxiety about what happened or didn’t happen melts away.

Stress about what you think will have to happen next loosens its grip.

As this happens, even more magic unfolds:

Your brain starts to rewire – areas linked to focus, self-awareness and emotional awareness are strengthened, while the amygdala, the brain’s fear center responsible for stress and emotional reactions, becomes less active and actually starts to shrink.

Mindfulness also helps regulate cortisol, the stress hormone. You feel calmer and more in control.

Biologically and chemically your stress fades away.

So far so good.

But there’s more to it:

What most people seem to be unaware of is that the state of mindful awareness is more than a foundation for a healthier stress-free existence – it’s a portal to a new enhanced reality.

How?

Well, this is of course a bit of a mystery, but it goes something like this:

As the distorted hallucinations your brain re-created – extrapolated – from the past go away, you’re in fact re-creating your reality, your life.

You’ve heard it before: ”Change your thoughts, change your life”.

This is it.

Your brain normally uses the past to interpret the now and to predict the future. This is your conditioning, the programs used by your brain to instantly provide you with information, or rather guesses about your present situation and to suggest what to do next.

As you tune out of the past and into the Now, you are free to choose a new programming, a new set of beliefs and assumptions about where you’re at and where you’re headed. This will change not only how you perceive your Now, but also what future you will create for yourself.

You’re in fact opening the door to your inner, untapped potential.
